Rizziconi Energia power plant operational

Dietikon,  Tuesday, July 15, 2008

After a construction time of 27 months EGL Group's second gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Italy, Rizziconi Energia, is operational now. The plant situated in the province of Calabria has a capacity of 760 MW and is fully-owned by EGL.

After 27 months of construction, Rizziconi Energia, EGL’s second proprietary gas-fired combined-cycle power plant, has entered its operational launch phase on schedule. The power plant, which is located in the Gioia Tauro plain in the municipality of Rizziconi (Southern Italy), is made up of two combined-cycle turbine units (a gas turbine and a steam turbine with alternators) with a total capacity of 760 MW.

The Rizziconi power plant is designed to ensure maximum respect for the environment and a high level of production efficiency. The plant is equipped with a combustion-control system which enables emissions to be reduced and a system for reusing effluent from the production process, therefore minimising water consumption. Thanks to the combined-cycle technology, the plant can attain production efficiency levels of around 56%.
