Water Condenser: Exchanger in which steam condense heat is given to water circulating in the pipes. It requires a big flow of circulating water (seawater in open circuit or cooling circuit on evaporative towers).

Water Pollution: Alteration of the normal composition of the water due both to the direct introduction of polluting substances and to the infiltrations of the same substances from the soil. Water pollution can be: chemical, due to introduction of chemical, organic and inorganic substances which modify its chemical characteristics; physical, due to flow variations, removal or addition of heat and introduction of suspension materials, which modify its physical properties (temperature, turbidity, colour, etc); biological, due to the introduction of pathogens (bacteria, viruses, parasites). The presence of pollutants makes the household, industrial or recreational use of water impossible. In Italy the law regulating the quality standards of waters for the effluents in a surface water body is Merli Law.

Watt (W): Unit (in the International System) of mechanic power, electric power, work carried out in the unit of time. 1watt= 1 joule/second (1 watt of power is employed when 1 joule of work is done in 1 second).
