EGL Italia, in addition to its commitment to environmental issues, is also active in both cultural and social initiatives.
Social responsibility is about building a relationship between the company and society. As far as EGL is concerned, it is a commitment that comes from changing the values which guide the company in projects and specific initiatives in the local community and in other parts of the world.
In the last few years, EGL has been involved in numerous projects and made the following major contributions:
2009 - Project in Support Association AISM - Italy.
In 2009 EGL was alongside the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association in the fight against the disease. The research project supported by EGL is designed to assess the short and medium term benefits of robot-therapy in the rehabilitation of people with MS and the determination of guidelines for its application in clinical routine.
2008 Solidarity Project “Nuovo Fiore” – Ethiopia
In 2008, EGL Italia supported the work of the Italian ONLUS organisation “In Cammino per la Famiglia” at the children’s emergency centre “Nuovo Fiore” in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). With EGL’s contribution, the centre, which takes care of more than a hundred children, has been equipped with modern generators to produce electricity. Electricity is currently rationed in Ethiopia, and there are often unexpected power cuts which cause serious difficulties for those running the childcare facilities.
2007 Solidarity Project “San Juan” – Guatemala
In 2007, EGL Italia contributed to an international solidarity initiative, promoted by the association Fratelli dell’Uomo ONLUS, in support of the ethnic Mayan rural communities in Sierra, Guatemala.
The project, which started at the beginning of 2007, has allowed the families in the community of San Juan Ostuncalco (Quetzaltenango region) to improve their diet and have an additional economic income thanks to the introduction of cattle breeding. The Mayan community in Sierra is one of the poorest communities in Central America.
