EGL expands into the Nordic countries

EGL plans to expand its activities into the Nordic electricity markets.

In the past financial year EGL posted growth in both electricity sales (+18.3%) and net sales (25.5%) generating a net profit of CHF 186.1 million (previous year CHF 116.4 million). During the new financial year the Group plans to branch into new directions. At the beginning of 2004, the cornerstone will be laid for the construction of its first power station in Italy; there are plans to expand gas operations and new subsidiaries such as EGL Nordic A/S will lead participation in interesting markets.

Half-year results for 31 March 2003 / A successful first six months for EGL

Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG (EGL) reported another successful first half of the business year. In terms of electricity sales, operating profit and EBIT, significant advances were made over the previous year's period. Net profit is on the previous year' level in spite of the lower return on income from equity.
