EGL AG is a European energy trading company with its own assets. It is a member of the Axpo Group, which is Switzerland's largest energy supplier, and is listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange.
EGL's activities are organised in three strategic divisions:
Energy Trading & Origination
EGL’s trading activity successfully transcends the boundaries of markets and commodities. It is one of the leading players in exchange-based energy trading and in the development of structured products and services. It also manages portfolios for its clients throughout Europe.
Assets
Thanks to its own assets – power-generating capacity, transport infrastructure and long-term procurement contracts – EGL has established a strong and
sustainable position in a number of attractive markets. When deploying its
assets, EGL’s goal is always to optimise their economic effectiveness and
to integrate them into its trading activities to maximise profitability.
Gas Supply & SEE
EGL administers its own natural gas portfolio. It uses gas to fire its power
stations and also sells it on the international markets. For the most part, it
obtains its natural gas supplies directly from producers. EGL also plans to
invest in the development of transport infrastructure.
EGL's trading and sales activities as well as a range of further
products are geared toward bulk customers such as manufacturing
companies, redistributors and power plant operators. In order to
identify and meet customers' needs efficiently, EGL has subsidiaries
representing the company in the most important European markets.
This Pan-European presence enables EGL to take advantage of opportunities which arise from trading between different markets.
