EGL Energía Iberia was established 2002 as a subsidiary of the European energy trading company EGL Group. It is managed by Ignacio Soneira and has 33 employees.
EGL Energía Iberia is one of the most active companies in the Iberian energy market and has been able to establish itself as one of the most important energy suppliers to major end-users. At the same time, it concludes trading contracts with producers of renewable energy and takes over energy sales on the Spanish energy exchange, OMIE.
EGL Energía Iberia acts in the forward market of buying-selling energy, being a member of the Futures Market OMIP (Iberian Energy Market Operator).
EGL Energía Iberia sells energy for around 500 production sites totalling more than 7.200 MW of installed capacity under the special regime (principally coming from wind farm, cogeneration and small hydroelectric plants). In addition, it manages the arbitration between the French market Powernext and OMIE.
Since the year 2010, EGL Energy Iberia has strongly driven a new activity: trading and biomass management.
