The watt-hour is the physical unit of electrical work.
1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) = 1’000 watt-hours
1 megawatt-hour (MWh) = 1 million watt-hours
1 gigawatt-hour (GWh) = 1 billion watt-hours
1 terrawatt-hour (TWh) = 1 trillion watt-hours

The megawatt-hour is usually used for trading on energy exchanges.

Examples:
1 litre of petroleum contains around 10 kWh.
1 kWh is enough to: Toast 133 slices of bread
Iron 3 shirts
Cook 240 eggs
Leave a 75 W bulb on for 13 hours
Leave a 11 W energy-saving bulb on for 90 hours
Bring 9 litres of water to the boil
